FTC disclosure
The FTC requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of any material connection between you and Ironside. "Material" includes commissions, free products, or anything of value. Disclosure must be made BEFORE a consumer interacts with your recommendation.
Examples of good disclosure
- In a YouTube description: "Affiliate link — I earn a commission if you buy through it. Thanks for supporting the channel!"
- On a blog: A short bolded line at the top: "This post contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission."
- In a live stream: Mention verbally at the start of the segment AND link with disclosure in panels.
Platform-specific rules
Some platforms have additional rules around affiliate content. On TikTok and Instagram, use the platform's paid-partnership tools. On X, flag the post as an advertisement if required. When in doubt, over-disclose.
Prohibited tactics
- Impersonating Ironside staff or support.
- Fake reviews or paid reviews that aren't disclosed.
- Cookie stuffing, click fraud, or any bot traffic.
- Paid search bidding on Ironside trademarks.
